‘R&Cs: Darkness’ is part of a trove of playlists we just recovered. While it may be…ancient, we still believe it holds value in helping with music discovery.
It was a delight to get another Eminem opus (Music To Be Murdered By), someone who hasn’t shortchanged us when it comes lyrical dexterity. He has also never shied away from challenging endeavours as is the case with “Darkness”, wherein he goes into the mind of the gunman behind a mass shooting. Chilling stuff!
The tracklist has other rhymesmiths, rubbing elbows with rappers who’ve made their success on the newer — some would say less substantive — popular rap styles. I’ve also set aside some space for a handful of my current faves in Senegal Rap. Enjoy!

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives. I am as subjective as they come. I found a bunch of blessed souls that are just as expressive. And Africa is all the better for it. (I think I never really changed.)
