It would be an exercise in futility to ascribe Wavy The Creator’s music to a specific genre. After all, is there a neat designation out there for an amalgam of musical styles and eras that has been enriched by aesthetics from different creative disciplines? Take your time; I’ll wait while we celebrate Wavy’s latest gift, her single “Body Deep”. The bouncy number from the Nigerian multi-disciplinarian leads a field with several other artists known to push and redefine the boundaries. There’s also a passage of songs — you’ll notice a timeless favorite in there — that celebrate our mothers; it was Mother’s Day in the United States this past Sunday and it feels apt to mark the occasion (as we did last year).
