R&Cs: Al Xayri

Late in 2017, when we were gathering songs for our ‘Teintée Africaine‘ series, my Senegal homie put me on to the duo (and couple) Maabo and I’ve been hooked ever since. Asides a few singles here and there, we’ve been waiting for their debut album, Jolofbeats, and all indications point to a release this month following their latest single, the charming and inspiring “Al Xayri”. The single leads a contingent from the continent and the Caribbean that should get you uplifted for the long weekend.

Hewa Yasin

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives.
