Roll and Coasters: Afrikan History X

A few months ago, I published a cursory peer into the growing appreciation for African pop music and its growing use. Clearly, there have been nuances in the acceptance, adoption and recognition for African styles in popular music. On the negative end, it has ranged from vitriolic pushback to gratuitous misappropriation. Cue “Afrikan History X”. Admittedly, Dosseh might not be alluding to music specifically. Nonetheless, the French rapper refers to the deplorable treatment meted to Africa and its people.

Editor’s Note:
Today, we throwback to the earlier experimental (and hitherto archived) versions of the ‘Roll and Coasters‘ series. ‘R&Cs: Afrikan History X’ was originally put together in September 2016. Do enjoy.
