R&Cs: Run It Up

For 2019, I’m betting that (in mainstream hip-hop) we’ll be introduced to a slew of young rappers making the leap from social media sensations or local niche leaders. So be on the lookout for all the guys on the DDG posse cut “Run It Up” — and their acolytes. On the continent as well, there’s been an uptick in rappers and producers that have found the proper formulas to attract larger crowds. I’m looking forward to the likes of Magnito, whose latest “Relationship Be Like” trilogy is just a sample of his versatility.

Hewa Yasin

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives.
