This is the most compact I’ve gone since I started this. Again, the opening videos come from projects that I’ve enjoyed so much that I’m always eager to expand on. The debut album from Sam’s was a pleasant surprise as I’d never expected such depth, introspection and elaborate train of thought. BJ’s major label bow flew under the radar in my opinion; it’s undoubtedly one of the standout R&B album releases this year. Finally, the Save Money Summer offered us several gems, including a killer EP from a significantly improved Vic Mensa. I’m expecting the likes Barack Adama, Jidenna and Wale to follow in the same path of excellence.
