R&Cs: Pay Up

Last year, one of the best rappers out right now released her sophomore album, Laila’s Wisdom. Oh boy, was I not ready for such dopeness! The latest Rapsody single off of her incredible album, “Pay Up” is the lead-off to this ‘Roll and Coasters.’ I included another standout female rapper (Cardi B); I gave in to my fondness for Beantown; and I had to prop up another single off another notable 2017 album (Blaq Diamond’s Inqola). And you know, East Africa (Chege, Harmonize, Sauti Sol, etc.) keeps representing strong. Dig in!

Hewa Yasin

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives. I am as subjective as they come. I found a bunch of blessed souls that are just as expressive. And Africa is all the better for it. (I think I never really changed.)
